Hiked from Russel Field Shelter to Silas Bald Shelter. Trail started off easy with a gradual incline and we made good time, covering 5 miles on the first two hours.

Crossed a couple balds that had really nice views

As we gained elevation, we ran into a little bit of trail ice again.

Before long, the trail got pretty steep and stayed that way all the way to the shelter.

We ran into a couple deer on the trail, the first large animals we have seen so far.

We got into the shelter and set up for the night.  Just after climbing into our sleeping bags, it got really windy, blowing about 30mph, with the promise of more wind and rain for the morning.
