Return to the Trail 3/13/2017

Got back onto the trail today at Newfound Gap and hiked up to Cold Spring shelter.  The trail was full of ice and snow.  Trekking poles were worth their weight in gold today.

I found a pair of sunglasses on the trail! They said the glasses made me look blind

Even though it was only A 3 mile hike, we decided to stay, as we caught word from a trail runner that the next shelter already had 18 people at it.  With more snow and  cold coming tonight, we didn’t want to risk having to on even further so we settled in for the day. Hard to see in the picture, but the shelter has a tarp as the front wall.

We spent a couple hours getting firewood to keep the fire place going.

Supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow and sleet tonight, the trail ought to be fun in the morning!
