“The Purge” is born 2/26/2017

A small storm blew through overnight.  Bright lightening around 4am. Stayed nice and dry in my hammock though.  Cuben fiber tarps with doors are awesome!

We hiked a brief uphill then a long winding down hill that took us to the bottom and ended at Dick’s Creek Gap.

We tried to hitch hike into town for a bit. About this time, I ended up with a trail name: “The Purge”…

The night before, a hiker camped with us and took it upon himself to join our group.  Between that and a difference in personalities, we came to the conclusion that he was not a good fit for our group.  We tried to drop subtle hints, but in the end I took the lead and had a short talk with him. After that, we went our separate ways.

We didn’t have any luck hitching, so we walked down to Top of Georgia Hostel. We ended up signing in for the night. The Hostel was great, they gave us a ride to town, did our laundry and had free coffee/tea/hot chocolate.

We all took showers then went to town, took advantage of an all you can eat buffet and resupplied at a grocery store

In the ending we gathered for Pizza and UNO in the common area.

Tomorrow we leave Georgia behind and enter North Carolina.
