Day 106: 7/8/21

I left camp early in the morning to beat the heat. I passed the McCloud River shortly after leaving camp. The river seemed aptly named.

I had another ten mile dry stretch today before my next water source. I hiked quickly to try to make mileage before the heat set in.

I also saw a deer and some nice views early on the morning.

I still had plenty of water by the time I reached the next water source, so I kept hiking a few more miles until I reached Squaw Valley Creek.

By this time it was almost noon. Earlier this week I made the decision to get off trail. I’ve been grateful for the time I’ve had on trail, but I’ve decided to go home to be with Sean and my family.

One of our friends offered to give me a ride off trail on Sunday, so I decided to spend my last few days on the PCT enjoying the trail. I hung out under a shady bridge on a side trail by Squaw Valley Creek for the rest of the day.

Glad you took some time to rest in the shade. What a great experience! So proud of you and Sean. A great start to a great life together.
